The Association des Piétons et Cyclistes du Pays de Gex (APiCy) was created in the summer of 2011 by a small group of people who get around on foot or by bike.
APiCy aims to :
facilitate, encourage, make safer and develop walking and cycling (“active mobility”) in Pays de Gex;
defend the rights of pedestrians and cyclists on roads and other areas open to public traffic in Pays de Gex;
defend and promote the social and convivial dimension of active mobility, notably and without exception, as a means of social integration and territorial appropriation. Bicycle tours are offered on a regular basis;
study and submit to the public authorities developments or services designed to facilitate and make safe walking and cycling, such as :
Proposals for the development of public traffic areas to enable pedestrians, cyclists and other users to share the use of these areas more effectively;
proposals for the creation of specific intercommunal paths;
encourage or participate in awareness-raising campaigns, and in the development of all means designed to promote walking and cycling in Pays de Gex;
encourage and support projects or events designed to raise public awareness of the problems associated with car use in towns and the advantages of other modes of transport.
To this end, the association holds regular meetings with elected representatives from the communes, the agglomeration and the département. The minutes are available on our website.
