Moonship Washboard Five – Jazz in Fort l’Écluse

Jazz in Fort l'Écluse, the not-to-be-missed festival for all jazz, soul and blues fans, presents a series of concerts at the Golf de la Valserine...

The Moonship Washboard Five was born in 2023 as part of a show about Louis Armstrong at the Bateau Lune theatre in Lausanne, which sold out at Jazz In Fort L'Écluse Chez Voltaire in the spring of 2024.

Friends and accomplices for decades, the musicians who make up the group are all passionate about the jazz of the 20s and 30s.

They draw their repertoire from Louis Armstrong's Hot Five, but also from Clarence Williams, Fats Waller and many others who form the basis of their repertoire, from New Orleans jazz to Chicago.

Spontaneity and joie de vivre are their trademarks!

Musicians : Beat Clerc, trumpet, vocals; Léo Muller, clarinet, saxophone; Jean-François Gertsch, guitar, banjo; Raymond Graisier, washboard, metallo, scat; Gilbert Gubler, double bass.
