M comme Médée show

It's grandiose, wildly intelligent and refreshingly true-to-life mythology.

M for mystery. The mystery of love and its vagaries. M for myth. That of a major female figure in ancient tragedy. That of a love story that consumes the daughter of the King of Colchis, driving her to commit the irreparable. But who is this heroine with the torn soul that so many authors have tried to capture through the ages and in so many languages? M as a literary monument or as an ancient monster? For AstridBayiha, Medea is a world in itself, a mosaic. She carries a thousand and one tales, and is as multiple as our identities, eluding all attempts at simplification. So here we are, embarking on a polyphonic sea crossing, following not a single, univocal Medea, but a whole gynaeceum, a veritable cohort of Medea. We stop off in the land of Euripides, Seneca, Heiner Müller, Sara Stridsberg and Jean-René Lemoine. In pursuit of Jason, the unfaithful Argonaut, let's seize the mixed voices that rise from this strange boat. What do they have to say about this "monstrous" lover and all those powerful women who refuse their fate and the betrayal of men?
