Génération Mitterrand show

Half a century of intimate and political trajectories brought to the stage, a look at our democratic life that's at once comic, historical and full of hope.

Audiences will witness a family drama. Michel Corrini is a factory worker in Belfort; Marie-France Deschamps is a journalist in Paris; Luc Corrini is a teacher in Vénissieux. What do they have in common? They were born in the early 1950s, and on the evening of May 10 1981, they were thirty years old and dreaming of seeing the election of François Mitterrand to, at last, "change life." On the eve of the first round of the 2022 presidential elections, Luc is preparing to vote for Jean-Luc Mélenchon; Marie-France, for Emmanuel Macron and Michel for Marine Le Pen. What promises, unspoken words and betrayals does François Mitterrand stand for? This is what the three characters will try to understand as they tell the audience about their destinies, emblematic of France at the end of the 20th century, and as they take it in turns to embody the first Socialist President of the Fifth Republic. Génération Mitterrand is the second episode in the Huit rois (nos présidents) series, which aims to paint theatrical portraits of the eight presidents of the Fifth Republic, from Charles de Gaulle to Emmanuel Macron.
