Refuge du Gralet

The Gralet refuge is located in the Haute Chaîne du Jura, along the GR Balcon du Léman - GTJ hiking trail, at an altitude of 1460 m.

The refuge offers 15 places on reservation, with 4 places reserved for hikers passing through.

Self-catering, the refuge has simple facilities: a communal kitchen with a wood-burning stove (no gas). Visitors are expected to respect the premises, clean up after themselves and bring back their garbage. Drinking water is available from the underground cistern using an outrigger pump, fed by rainwater and snowmelt. The use of purifying tablets is recommended.

Located in a National Nature Reserve, the refuge is subject to strict regulations that visitors must observe. Camping is strictly forbidden in the Haute Chaîne du Jura, except in the immediate vicinity of chalets and refuges open to the public, under certain conditions: within a 15-meter radius of the chalet if the latter is fully booked. Special case of bivouacs (temporary camping without tents): the Prefectoral Order of October 16, 2017 sets out the conditions for the practice of bivouacs within the Nature Reserve.
